Pet Obesity

I harp on this topic a lot, I realize. With the growing problem the U.S. human population faces, we’re in enough trouble as it is! Tragically, our pets are rapidly following in our footsteps.

In my not-so-humble-opinion, there is NO reason for a pet to reach the epic levels of obesity that we see in practice. Owners control how much food and exercise a pet gets. There’s really just no excuse. There are, of course, exceptions for owners unable to exercise the pet. There isn’t one for overfeeding. It’s tough talk, yes.

The bottom line is that an overweight pet is going to live a shorter life. Too much food is killing your dog. It’s that simple. It’s that direct.

This article talks about some ways that owners have incorporated exercise into their pet’s daily routine. Not only are there physical benefits, there are emotional and social benefits, too. The really great part is that the benefits are shared with owners!

  3. Great! Ellie was looking nice and slender the last time I saw her. 🙂 I’m sure she appreciates the fun, too!
