DNA extraction and genome sequencing has come a LONG way since its beginning. Scientists have recently been able to extract DNA from a 1/4″ bone fragment, as well as from a frozen mammoth carcass. This article talks about obtaining a genome from an ancient horse. With the genome, the scientists have been able to adjust their knowledge of when, and how, horses evolved. Really cool stuff!
